| CCA-PSP is a branch of Calvary Christian Academy
(CCA). CCA-PSP is a ministry of Calvary Chapel San Diego.
We are here to offer Guidance, Support,
and Accountability.
CCA-PSP is available for record-keeping
accountability, social interaction, and educational
opportunities. Your commitment to your children’s education
will be supported by CCA-PSP. This year will
bring its share of difficulties and challenges, but the
Lord is faithful and will honor your commitment
by empowering you with His strength.
SCHOOL ORGANIZATION
This PSP has been established to assist home schooling families
whose beliefs are consistent with those of our church. Jesus Christ
is the foundation of our church, and our beliefs are consistent
with the true and living Word of God.
We assist parents in fulfilling their legal requirements, including
the filing of a private school affidavit, maintaining student cumulative
files and keeping other relevant records as required by law. CCA-PSP
requires mandatory HSLDA membership.
ACADEMIC SERVICES
Cumulative Records
Your student’s permanent cumulative records are maintained
in the school office at Calvary Christian Academy. CCA-PSP will
obtain them from your previous school, and should you decide to
leave CCA-PSP, we will forward them for you. Each month you will
turn in a worksheet for your students showing what they have done
for the month. These worksheets will be kept in your student’s
cum file along with the attendance records that you fill out and
work samples of your child’s schoolwork.
Resource Lending Library
CCA-PSP has educational CD's available to loan to CCA-PSP parents to help them fine-tune their teaching skills. We also have curriculum books to help you see and evaluate the curriculum that is available in the home school market.
Stanford Achievement Testing
The Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) will be required
each spring to all students sixth grade and above. It is recommended
for younger students and is available upon request. Standardized
testing is to help you, the teacher, see where strengths and weaknesses
are in your student. This can be very valuable in determining
curriculum choices for the following year.
Parents are required to read and agree to the following policies. By signing the attached acknowledgement form, parents have agreed to abide by these policies.
- The school cannot offer legal immunity and is only providing school services to assist parents in the schooling of their children.
- Parents must become members of HOME SCHOOL LEGAL DEFENSE ASSOCIATION. HSLDA does not give refunds for any reason. Families who are currently members of HSLDA must re-enroll at their anniversary date. If you do not comply, you will be dropped from PSP, and registration fees will have to be paid again to re-enroll.
- At least one parent must attend the mandatory parent training meetings held three times per year. These informative meetings provide teacher education and training to help parents fine-tune their teaching skills. If you are unable to attend our training meeting, you will need to attend a training meeting on your own and submit a class description to the PSP Director. This description must state when, where, and what you attended. You will also need to describe what was taught and how you will apply this to your life. We can recommend a class for you.
- The CCA-PSP support group is held once per month. Although attendance is not mandatory, we highly recommend that you attend several support groups to help “connect” you with the group. These meetings give you and your child the opportunity to fellowship with other members of the PSP. Fellowship and support are two of the reasons that this PSP exists.
- It is the parent’s responsibility to teach the child. California law requires that in order for a child to be home schooled, one parent must be at home with the child during the day. CCA-PSP is keeping your child’s records, but is in no way responsible for their actual education.
- The Christian faith is the basis of this organization. Parents must understand that this PSP holds to the teachings of Calvary Chapel San Diego.
- The school will supply monthly record keeping worksheets. Parents must record progress and submit the worksheets on a monthly basis to the PSP office. Parents are also responsible for completing a course of study record and attendance records. Course of study records and student goal records are to be turned in at the start of the school year. Attendance records are turned in at the end of the school year.
- Parents will provide and pay for their own curriculum. We can offer you suggestions, but we do not choose your curriculum or set up your lesson plans.
- We require an educational resume for our PSP files. This resume will show your educational training as well as any other experience that will add to your child’s education. Your resume is due within 60 days of PSP registration and may be updated throughout the year.
As members of CCA-PSP, we have the privilege of
participating in some of Calvary Christian Academy’s events
and activities. We will be given ACSI membership benefits. Some
of these benefits
include a Spelling Bee, Choral Festival, Math Olympics
and a Geography Bee. At times the CCA teachers may want to include
us in their class
field trips. These field trips have proven to be
both educational and fun, as well as a good opportunity for our
home school students
to fellowship with the CCA students.
CCA-PSP will participate in school pictures in the fall. We will
also have a school yearbook for the PSP.

PSP Membership
fees:
1 student - $40 per month
2 students - $45 per month
3+ students - $50 per month
Senior High PSP students have the option to take up to three consecutive classes at CCA with the CCA students and faculty. Sports are included in the class choices. Fees for each class are $110 per month. The student will participate on a daily basis in the classes that they are registered for. This will enable parents to have their child get a private school education, at a minimal cost, in subjects that may be difficult for the parents to teach. This also gives the student an opportunity to participate in sports on a private school team.
As we implement a Classic Education, we will have Prescribed Dress (uniforms) for all grades at the CCA campus. If your PSP student is on campus at CCA for an activity, class, or field trip, they must comply with the Prescribed Dress Code. The cost for the Prescribed Dress is the responsibility of the parent. Prescribed Dress is to be purchased solely through Royal Blazers.
CCA no longer accepts payment at the school. All
payments are made through FACTS Tuition Service. Please call the office for details.
HSLDA – Home School Legal Defense
Association membership is mandatory for families in the
CCA-PSP. HSLDA
represents home
schooling families legally should legal issues arise. |
