7th Grade
Mrs. Matsumoto received her Bachelors degree in 1998, and her teaching
credential in 2001, from San Diego State University. She has been involved
in childrens education since 2001, and taught 7th and 8th grade for three
years at Calvary Chapel La Mesa Christian School. Mrs. Matsumoto has a
passion for teaching and desires to see her students excel academically
and spiritually. She encourages her students to grow in their relationship
with the Lord, Jesus Christ, and to have reliance on Him.
Mrs. Matsumoto and her family fellowship at Calvary Chapel of Lemon Grove.
There, Mrs. Matsumoto serves as a member of the worship team, childrens
ministry, womens ministry, and the pastoral prayer team. Mrs. Matsumoto
and her husband, Kevin, have three terrific kids: Morgan, Chris, and Jake. |

8th Grade
Gabriela Scheckel was born and raised in Chula Vista California. She is married to
Brett Scheckel and has two boys Bryce and Trace. They have been a part of Calvary Chapel
San Diego for 10 wonderful years. They have seen the Lord do amazing things in the lives
of their family and friends at CCSD. Gabriela received her BA in Social Science and her
teaching credential at San Diego State University. Immediately after receiving her credential,
the Lord called her to the ministry of teaching in the public schools. After teaching high
school for 4 years the Lord called her to take a step of faith to join the teaching staff
at CCA. Gabriela’s heart is to minister, pray for, teach, and learn from the students
the Lord brings into her life. She is excited to see the Lord work through and grow the church
body at CCA. She is looking forward to working with, praying with, and ministering alongside
parents, students, and staff. |

7th/8th Grade Aide
Tonya comes to CCA from Naples Italy, where she was stationed with her husband Guillermo Amezaga, and their two beautiful girls Bronte and Nadia. She has been a part of the Calvary family for three years and six months. Tonya and her husband lead a small group through Calvary Chapel Monterey Bay for single/ married military members. Tonya came to the Lord eleven years ago, and is currently serving CCA as a Jr High Aide. Tonya has a love for children and travel. Tonya obtained her “CDA” in Early Childhood Education, while working as a Lead Teacher for Kinder Care Learning Center. Tonya's love for travel has taken her to all but eleven U.S. states, and to many different countries and European cities. She is also the Jr Knights Cheer coach ,which allows her to teach her squad God's Word and the fundamentals of cheer. She hopes to continue to travel the world and spread the good news of Christ !! Her life verse is 2 Corinthians 13:5 "Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith." |

Drama
Grace is a native of
San Diego, and her family has attended CCSD for 15 years. She is currently attending Mesa
College, majoring in Sign Language Interpreting. Her goal at CCA is to gain experience
and knowledge in the field of education, as she wishes to eventually go on to receive a
degree in Deaf Education. Grace spends her free time with her husband and their house-mates,
and volunteers as a High School Adult Leader at her church, Eastlake Community Church. Her
life verse is 1 Peter 1:8-9, "...Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice
with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of
your souls." |

Athletics Director
K-8 Physical Education
This is Coach Duvall’s first year at CCA as the Elementary Athletic Director. He has been the boys varsity soccer coach for the season of 05-06 and will be looking forward to continuing in that as well as getting involved with the baseball program.
Dale received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday in the year 2000. His goal is to now share the good news of Christ to as many people as possible. God has given him a vision for CCA Athletics to prayerfully and practically train up and disciple the students with Christ as their foundation in athletics as well as other areas of their lives. He enjoys spending time and going on adventurous trips with his wife Liz, and two children, Erika and Jordan. |

K-12 Worship
A worship leader and professional guitarist
for over 20 years, Deven also has over 10 years
of teaching experience. He taught at Horizon
High School for eight years, directing student-led
worship teams and the school’s pep band.
For the last three years, he served at Calvary
Chapel High School in Costa Mesa, teaching Jr.
High and High School worship, guitar and pep
band. He earned a B.A. from Seattle Pacific University
in Communication. Deven has also enjoyed touring
as a support guitarist for The Kry and Jeremy
Camp, and is currently performing with The Surfaris.
He feels blessed to be called by the Lord to
serve and raise up the next generation of worship
leaders. He and his wife Wendy have two beautiful
daughters, Jane and Grace. |
