Portfolio assessment is a wonderful method of assessment that will show a child’s growth over time in a natural setting based on real performance. Often a test only tells what he or she can do on a particular day and a particular time. Portfolio assessment allows each child to participate in the evaluation. It focuses on what the child is doing rather than what he or she is not doing. It gives teachers information on each individual child’s learning needs which in turn allows them to plan their instruction.

Each child is assessed throughout the school year and this plus their work in the classroom is documented and stored in their Portfolio Assessment Binder. This binder is available for parents to see and is a helpful tool in monitoring the progress of your child’s learning here at CCA.
