Hello Future Kinder Families,

We are so excited to be a part of your search for a new school and we hope that CCA can be the perfect fit for you. Listed below you will find some examples from our Kinder Curriculum such as classwork and some of our at-home practice worksheets. We utilize Abeka curriculum as our fundamental foundation for our Kinder Curriculum with an added emphasis on providing our students with many engaging kinesthetic learning experiences and activities. We believe that students excel academically, emotionally, and spiritually. when they are provided with deeper thinking opportunities to become active participants in what they are learning. At the core of each lesson, you will discover our heart and passion which is driven by our school mission of equipping our students to live victoriously as followers of Christ.

We pray we can serve you here at Calvary Christian Academy for Kindergarten and for years to come.

Our writing curriculum focuses on engaging and innovative writing instruction that prepares our students to become writers in the new found era of digital writing. In this program, students begin the year learning writing basics and end the year using a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to supply information about a topic.

Our Kinder science program sets a foundation of discovery by first helping students understand their five senses of taste, touch, smell, hearing, and sight. Next the learn about how they affect the world around them by gaining an understanding of movement and sound. Once a foundation is set we begin learning about other things that have senses and move, animals!

Learning how to write is a crucial part of everyday life. We set a firm foundation of penmanship by using cursive to challenge students early on in their pencil and finger movement skills.

By this time, we are sure that your children are beginning to ask a lot of question about how the world works around them. Our social studies curriculum allows students the ability to engage with the world and get those question answered regarding our city, nation, the people who run it, and God’s place in it all.

If we are giving students the love of learning, then reading is a large part of learning on their own. Having a strong foundation of phonics is only the beginning for students reading about new things in and outside of the classroom. Students begin the year learning shorts sounds, five vowels, and then forming blends to make words. They end the year starting our AR Reading and Comprehension program that allows us to track students ability to read and their reading level moving forward.

Math may not be everyone’s cup of tea but in Kindergarten we make it fun and engaging for students and make them want to learn more. Students begin the year learning and understanding number 1-10. By the end of the year students are learning partner equations, using problem drawing to conceptualize math, and gaining a firm grasp on their 10’s.

There is no better time to learn about the Bible than in Kindergarten. Learning about the creation of the world, the true love of Jesus, and those early Bible stories can leave some children in awe of just how great God truly is.
